| Blockader crowd control barricades have received almost-daily media exposure over the last few months, as a result of their use during presidential campaign events held by the Obama-Biden and McCain-Palin tickets. Blockader barriers have been used for crowd control at many campaign events, including Senator Barack Obama’s speech before a large crowd at Progress Plaza in Philadelphia on October 12 (see photo), and a number of Senator John McCain’s campaign rallies.
For decades, Blockader has been the top supplier of crowd control barricades used at public events held by candidates of all political parties, during both the primaries and the general election campaign. The interlocking steel barriers have been purchased or rented by campaign rally organizers or sites to provide “borders” around campaign stages (particularly at outdoor events) or to block off and secure special areas for the media or VIPs. They are also often used as a barrier to separate the candidates from spectators in what have traditionally been called “rope lines.” “Rope lines are a staple of political events, but rarely include a rope or a line,” according to a recent New York Times article. “The rope is usually a metal barrier, and the line is more of a scrum of people pushing toward the candidate.” In past years, Blockader crowd control barricades have been used at both the Republican and Democratic national conventions, and at the last four inaugural parades in Washington, D.C. Blockader is a wholesale supplier to local events or companies which need to access crowd control equipment, sometimes on very short notice. These local companies have turned to Blockader for over 25 years because they are assured of reliable service and high quality products which will be effective at providing crowd management even at large events. |
