Blockader Secures New Construction at GM Assembly Plant

Blockader barriers are currently securing new construction work at the General Motors Detroit Hamtramck Assembly Plant.  More than 300 interlocking steel barricades, comprising 2,200 linear feet, are set up around the perimeter of the construction project to direct pedestrians and workers away from new manufacturing equipment.

The crowd control barricades at the plant are the result of a long-term rental arrangement contracted between Blockader (a division of The Tamis Corporation) and Commercial Contracting Corporation (CCC), the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based construction contractor for the GM assembly plant project.  Commercial Contracting, which has a long history of working with Blockader, rented 339 barriers for the work at the GM Detroit Hamtramck Assembly Plant.  The rental is expected to last through the end of 2009, the projected completion date of the construction project, according to Dave Hurst, Executive Vice President, Installation Division at CCC.
